Federal Election, Oct 14, 2008 (Ottawa, Canada)
Last Federal Election, Jan 23, 2006
Stephen Harper, Conservative Party, elected Prime Minster
Birth Data: April 29, 1959, Toronto, Canada (time unknown)
Bowing to non-confidence stance of the opposition parties on his minority government, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has just announced a Federal Election to be held on Oct 14, 2008. Note that the Solar Eclipse Sun/Moon of Aug 1st squares the Oct 14 Mars (in Scorpio) position – suggesting Oct 14 as a trigger point for action (Oct 14’s Sun perfects a square to the Solar Eclipse Ceres by the end of the day; Mars perfects the square aspect on Oct 17.)
The Aries Moon is in a gibbous relationship to the Sun. The Gibbous cycle is one of making corrections, and is interesting to note that Stephen Harper, the scapegoat of the day is an Aries. This Aries Moon makes a facilitating trine to the Eclipse South Node in Leo position, so let’s hope that this election will bring successful reconciling to Canadians.
Also interesting to note is that Oct 14 is the last day of Mercury retrograde. (Mercury stations direct on Oct 15 just after 4pm EDT, just after 1pm PDT.) If you have to take action, it is always better to do it when Mercury is about to station direct (end of the cycle), rather than at the beginning of the Mercury retrograde cycle. This Mercury in Libra retrograde forms a very close conjunction (within 1 degree) to the South Node position of the previous election, Jan 23, 2006. At the time of that last election, Venus (ruler of the South Node) was retrograde in Capricorn and Stephen Harper’s Conservatives won by minority. This contact between the charts of last election and this one displays unfinished business. Jupiter in Scorpio of the Jan 23, 2008 Election chart is squared by the Oct 14, 2008 Election chart Nodes (Chiron is conjunct the North Node.) The further we go, the more we uncover, the less we trust!
It will be interesting symbolism to see how the Canadian vote transpires and whether that updated collective mandate (for positive change) will echo in the results of the US vote on Nov 4.
